The first day of racing was a wild one. The wind came up during the racing and was reported to be in the high 20s and gusts to about 30 mph. We had many teams retire and quite a lot of sail and batten damage from capsizes. Only about 27 teams finished. Some teams went straight in to the beach rather than fight back upwind to the regatta beach area. It was a scramble to account for all the boats, but 87 started and 87 were accounted for. More high wind is in the forecast in the following days
