3rd Carlsberg Hobie Tiger World Championships

10th-14th February 2003, To be hosted by Raffles Marina, Singapore

The organizing authority is the International Hobie Class Association in conjunction with Raffles Marina under the auspices of Singapore Sailing Federation.

1 Rules

The regatta/race will be governed by the current rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, the rules of the International Hobie Class Association, (except as any of these are altered by the sailing instructions) and by the sailing instructions.

2 Alterations of Racing Rules

The racing rules will be modified in accordance with rule 86 as follows:

Rule 44.1 and 44.2, will be altered by: ' A 360-degree Turns Penalty consists of one tack and one gybe, or one gybe and one tack, before resuming course.'

3 Eligibility and Entry

3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the International Hobie Tiger class. One crew member must be a paid-up member of a National Hobie Class Association or Hobie Fleet in good standing with the IHCA.

3.2 A Women’s World Champion will be declared after a minium of 10 Women entries. Both skipper and crew must be women to eligible to enter in this division

3.3 Competitors' Insurance

All competitors entering the race shall have third party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 400,000.00. Competitor’s proof of insurance and coverage shall be provided at registration. Insurance arrangements for competitors not having third party liability insurance will be available on site at a supplementary cost.

3.4 Eligible boats may enter on the attached Entry Form which shall be lodged with

4 Fees

4.1 Required fees:

3rd Hobie Tiger Worlds Fee - Open $250.00 USD

Late entry fee after 10th January 2003 - $300.00 USD (total)

5 Schedule of Events

5.1 Registration:

Day and date: 9 Feb 2003 - From 1000 hrs to 1700 hrs

5.3 Races:

Race 1 Day & Date : 10 Feb 2003 - Time of Warning Signal : 1000 hrs

Further race times will be in the Sailing Instructions

6 Measurements

Measurement is not required, but it is the responsibility of each skipper to ensure her/his boat complies with the Hobie Cat class rules. Inspections may be foreseen during the event.

7 Sailing Instructions

The sailing instructions will be available after 1000 hrs on 9 Feb 2003 at the Race Secretariat Office, Raffles Marina.

8 Regatta Site

The regatta site will be Raffles Marina,10 Tuas West Drive, Singapore 638404.

9 Racing Area

The racing area will be the sea off Raffles Marina at Latitude 1 degree 20.53 minutes North, Longitude 103 degree 38.22 minutes East.

10 Courses

The course shall be Standard IHCA Class Courses will one long distance race (depending on the weather).

11 Scoring

The Low Point scoring system, Appendix A.4.1 will apply as modified by the International Hobie Class rules available at www.hobieclass.com.

12 Decisions of the Jury

Decisions of the Jury will be final in accordance with racing rule 70.4. An International Jury shall be appointed.

13 Radio Communications

A boat shall neither make radio transmission while racing nor receive radio communication not available to all boats.

14 Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the top 15 positions in the Open and may be awarded to the top 5 in the Women Division if sufficient entries.

15 Shipping

Limited free shipping will be available from NOL/APL on first come basis will be available to sailors from the following ports. Marseille, FRANCE; Hamburg, GERMANY; Rotterdam, HOLLAND; Southampton, UNITED KINGDOM; Genoa, ITALY; Sydney, AUSTRALIA; New York, USA; Los Angles, USA.

A shipping time from these ports is being prepared and will be available at www.hobieworlds.com when completed.

(The out bound and inbound land transport, port and custom dues and bonds will the competitors responsibility)

Shipping Containers:

To reserve your position on the shipping container form selected ports a $300USD refundable despot is required with the IHCA. The deposit will be refunded to your credit card when your boat is in Singapore (less bank fees).
