Ancient figures. Modern
cats.
In 1947 the Norwegian explorer/scientist Thor Heyerdahl, built an
ancient-styled balsa wood raft named the Kon-Tiki and sailed it
from Peru to
Polynesia -5,000 miles away- to prove that ancient South American
Indians
could have reached Polynesia.
The voyage of his raft Kon-Tiki is just one of his many true-life
adventures. Heyerdahl was also the first person to do an archaeological
dig
on Easter Island. The raft was christened Kon-Tiki and sported a
sail
painted with a likeness of the legendary chief-god, based on stone
statues
of him at Tiahuanaco.
As the legendary sailors, in 2004, we paint again the sails to say
how proud we
are about our Mayan ancestors.
Chac Mool, "the messenger of gods" appears in the jib
as a symbol of the
land that will be reached in 2004 by modern sea-warriors from all
over the world.
The history will be writen here, in the Riviera Maya.
Doug Skidmore and his people at Hobie Cat Co. are working wonderful

boats (Very Limited Edition). This is the official sails and hull
graphics
for the Hobieworlds 2004.
