Open - Round 1 - Race 1
At 10 a.m., 128 competitors from 20 countries went out to the sea. Winds from the N-E with with a speed between 15 and 16 knots prevailed throughout the journey.
The sunny race area is approximately 12 kilometers long, they raced a 2G course. Is the moment for the first group of those who are in search for a place in the semi-finals.
The first arriving to the A mark for the first time were boats with numbers 7, 49, 13, 39 and 02, in this order.
In the second time, things change. Now it is 59, 61, 07, 49 and 39.
In the last visit to the A mark, just before arriving to the finish line, they were positioned in this order: 07, 61, 38, 49, y 39.

Open - Round 1 - Race 2
Some rain but the wind with its 18 knots, will not yield to it, nor the competitors that now go to the sea. Other 64 sails now start the race in the finish line.
One of the most beautiful spectacles that a sailing enthusiast o just an expectator can enjoy is in front of us. An authentic forrest of sails emerges from the sea and moves rapidly while the group starts to spread out.
Pursch and Corlett from Australia get to the A mark first, as leaders. However, for the second and third upwind leg they disappear as the leading team when passed by their country men: Lovig and Douglas.
At the finish line, Australians show why they call sailing the National Sport.

Open - Round 1 - Race 3
The sea of X’Puhá, quiet villa of fishermen in which ocean the marks are set, is on a party. A cloud of silver, green and red sails cruises the horizon again. We are in the race number 3 of the day and the teams that participated in the first course, go to sea again.
All Clear! We hear on the radio. It is the voice of Paul Ulibarri, principal race officer of the race, indicating that the start is perfect. The wind lowers its speed to 16 knots with short waves, but powerful, that go as high as 1.6 meters.
Those who are in the water today, are fighting for a spot in the semifinals. They will work hard in what is left of this journey and tomorrow in this qualifying round.
In the results, you can see who is earning the chance of staying as a competitor in the Mayan Riviera… or to take a flight home.


Open - Round 1 - Race 4
The pirates of the Caribbean are no longer in novels. They have come here with their songs, earings and unheard adventures. This is the team of Puerto Rico, which with a unique charisma adds flavor to this encounter of nations. Headed by Pedrín Colón, Martín Roldán Sr. and Jr., Enrique and Francisco Figueroa, Dennys Junco, Rosarito Marínez, Kamil Berrios, Jorge Torres and many more have come here to add some salsa to this worlds.
And like good buccaneers, they come from the “island of enchantment”. When you ask them what are their odds of winning, they say with a smile on their faces: “The gold is going to be all ours”.
The Caribbean of yesterday’s sailors and today’s is the scenery of the last competition of today. Matt Miller, Beach Captain of the Worlds reports directly from the scene: 1600, 15NE, 5FW, 2MA 06, 29, 36, 27, 05 (This means that the start has been at 4 pm sharp, the wind comes from the north east at 15 knots of speed and the waves reach 5 feet of height and that in the second upwind leg in around the mark A the order of the boats was: France – Barder and Montoya -; Australia – Lovig and Douglas; France – Duponteil and Leval; Venezuela – Guareschi and Soto; and the Fiji Islands – Brodie and Brodie).
